In 2006, MEAG Power’s contract with ITS was extended to 2027.

The Integrated Transmission System (ITS) was first formed in l973 and is the backbone of Georgia’s transmission grid, covering 90% of the state. It is one of the few jointly owned statewide transmission systems in the nation. Its ownership is shared between MEAG Power, Georgia Transmission Corporation, Dalton Utilities and Georgia Power. The ITS is an asset for all its owners as it ensures checks and balances on individual new investment expenditures while providing each owner nearly statewide access. Individual transmission lines and substations are owned and maintained by the individual participants but they are planned and operated as one system.
